Bylaws

- The YORK COUNTY FLYERS, INC. Model Airplane Club is founded to promote and support Radio controlled Model Aircraft building and flying.
- The Club is open to all persons interested in building and/or flying Radio Controlled Model Aircraft.
- All Club members MUST maintain membership in the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).
- AMA membership is the sole responsibility of each individual Club member.
- Members must comply with the official AMA Safety Code as published in the current AMA Membership Manual.
- Prospective members must make application to a current Club Officer, pay annual dues, and show proof of AMA membership. A Club membership card will NOT be issued until AMA membership has been verified with either a current AMA license or through the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
- Each new member accepted will be entitled to receive a Membership Card, and a copy of the Club Bylaws & Club Rules.
- Annual Club membership dues are payable January 1st per the following schedule:
Open Membership $60.00
Senior Membership (over 64) $48.00
Junior Membership (under 17) $48.00
Family Membership (includes all children under 17) $70.00
- Members more than 30 days in arrears on dues shall be notified in writing and shall have an additional 30 days to pay dues before membership is canceled. Any later reinstatement will be under “New Member” rules.
- An Associate Membership is available which entitles an individual to flying privileges only. This membership is a non-voting membership and will be issued on a QUARTERLY basis with payment of the appropriate fees. Associate Membership (per quarter): $25.00
- The club fiscal year will be January 1 to December 30.
- Club officers shall consist of: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Safety Coordinator. The positions of Newsletter Editor and Club Historian will be filled by volunteers.
- The term of office for Club officers: (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Safety Coordinator) is one year concurrent with the Club fiscal year.
- Club officers are limited to a two-year term and must then sit out a minimum of one year before they are eligible for re-election to the same officer position.
- Club officer elections will be conducted during the January meeting.
- Regular Club meeting will be held monthly, subject to change by notification as needed.
- Club moneys shall be maintained by the Treasurer in a suitable financial institution. Checks drawn on the Club Account must have the signature of the Treasurer or Secretary.
- A budget-for Club operating expenses must be submitted to the Club in March of the New Year by the incumbent or newly elected President.
- Bylaws, with the exception of AMA membership requirements or those pertaining to privately owned flying sites, may be amended by a majority vote of the membership attending the announced Club meeting in either January or July.
- Changes, additions, and deletions of Club Rules and Bylaws will be previewed to the Membership-via the newsletter or a special mailing prior to the voting session.
- A guest to any Club sanctioned or sponsored flying site MUST be an AMA member and is limited to three visits after which he or she must apply for membership and be accepted into the Club. A guest flying can fly at a Club site only when accompanied by the Club member who extended the invitation. The host member is responsible for the actions of the guest while at the flying site.
- No drugs or alcohol will be consumed at the flying site at any time.
- Flyers applying for Club membership will be subject to the full annual dues at the time of application
- The club shall follow the AMA guidelines for noise control.
Club Rules
(Revised January, 2006)
- Persons flying at the Club site must be members or guests of members and must display evidence of AMA and Club membership on their person. Guests must be accompanied by a Club member.
- All members at the Flying Site are responsible for verifying Club and AMA membership status of flying.
- Sunday morning flying times will be available only to NON-GAS powered aircraft up to 12:00P.M.
- Flying in NOT permitted over or behind the pit area or over the School Bus Yard.
- All model aircraft engines MUST have a muffler of a suitable design to minimize noise. Members shall follow the AMA guidelines for noise control
- The last flyer to leave the site is responsible for making sure the buildings are locked and securing the gate at the entrance of the field.
- Pets are not allowed at the flying site.
- Use of ALCOHOL or DRUGS is forbidden at the site.
Frequency Control for 72 Mhz equipment
- All 72 Mhz radios must be 1991 GOLD STRICKER, Narrow band.
- Place transmitter in transmitter rack when not in use.
- When frequency marker is in horizontal position, frequency is available.
- To fly use clothespin with your Club Card or AMA Card clipped to Frequency marker in the vertical position. When frequency marker is in vertical position, frequency is in use.
- Remove transmitter from transmitter rack. Do not turn your transmitter on unless your card is clipped to the frequency marker.
- When though flying, Turn transmitter off, Return to rack, Remove your clothespin with your Club Card or AMA Card and return frequency marker to horizontal position.

MAKE SURE RADIO IS OFF WHEN PLACING IN RACK!!
